OBJECTIVE
Since the first DoD RFP and investment for 5G and Open RAN in 2020 much has been trialed, tested and learned. The DoD approach was wholistic not only focusing on wireless technology but also the end-to-end ecosystem, dual use commercial applications and spectrum, security, supply chain and value add for operational benefit. Five years later those early investments and prototypes are yielding fruit having moved into production with measurable results.
