We provide audio, video, and communications services to the entertainment industries, primarily focusing on sports broadcasting. This year, for the big game at Allegiant Stadium, we decided to tap into JMA because of our experience with them last year at State Farm Stadium for Fox Sports, where we deployed a similar system with comparable coverage to meet their needs during the big game.
We have full trust in our JMA partner to provide seamless communications and support the network we’ve deployed here at Allegiant. The private LTE network enables us to have more secure communications in a spectrum that is not utilized by other parts of the communications or entertainment production taking place. Broadcasters typically rely on communications in the mobile unit to talk to their cameras, production assistants, and on-air personalities around the facility. However, coverage is often hampered by the limited frequencies available for use.
In addition, the private LTE network offers more flexibility in terms of distribution and adding coverage in hallways, locker rooms, broadcast booths, etc. It was extremely beneficial that we were able to get this network up and running over what was essentially a four-day period, followed by some fine-tuning over the next few days. We are very pleased with the coverage and the overall operation of the system.
I firmly believe that the use of CBRS LTE private networking—whether it’s 4G or 5G in the future—can offer significant flexibility to television, film, and broadcast production. The hope is that we can elevate this technology and utilize it across multiple platforms to provide an efficient solution for our broadcast partners at various events.
