How to Install JMA Cluster 3/8 Inch Super Flex Connectors
Step One: Prep to Begin
Straighten the cable and using ready cutter, apply even pressure while rotating the tool around the cable to cut squarely. Slide the capsule included in the connector bag down the cable with the square side facing away from the cable end.
Attach the appropriate prep strip tool to the drill. Actuate the drill to remove the jacket and expose the center conductor. Then remove the cable from the tool.
Remove the coring bit that comes with the prep tool from the tool body. The bit will be marked with J for 3/8 cable.
Using the coring bit and the T handle, remove dielectric until the cable bottoms on the bit. Alternately, a drill can be used in place of the T handle on slow speed. Use Center Conductor Cleaner SPC sheet tool to remove any remaining dielectric material on the center conductor.
Swap this SP 3801 tool body for the speaker zero one prep trim tool. Actuate the drill to cut down the center conductor on the already prepped cable. Proper prep is achieved when the prep trim tool bottoms out on the end of the prepped cable.
Step Two: Install
Use the provided alcohol wipe to clean the inner and outer conductors thoroughly.
Thread the connector onto the cable until the connector bottoms on the cable. Tighten securely before compression.
Step Three: Compress
Insert the insert into the frame set so the narrow side is oriented toward the cable opening. Pull push back the frame shut to allow the connector and cable to lie flat in the frame.
Slide the capsule back up the cable until it meets the back of the connector.
Step Four: Install in the Cluster Housing
Insert the connector into the cluster housing in the open slot. The connector interface should appear flush with the interface of the cluster. Rotate the capsule a quarter turn clockwise in the housing to secure the connector in place.
A 14 millimeter or 9/16 inch wrench may be used in confined spaces to remove the connector. Rotate the capsule a quarter turn counterclockwise and pull.
