RIVA Networks and JMA Wireless Awarded Private 5G Network Contract for Air Force Research Laboratory

Princeton, New Jersey and Syracuse, New York (10/24/22) – Advanced wireless network engineering specialists, RIVA Networks (RIVA)—in partnership with JMA Wireless (JMA)—has been awarded a contract to add private 5G capabilities to the legacy cellular networks at the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), Rome Research Site (RRS). RIVA’s qualifications and experience, combined with JMA’s private 5G solution, will deliver a next-generation network to continue the modernization of United States Department of Defense (DoD) installations.

TIM-JMA Wireless, in Saluzzo the first Open RAN Municipality in Italy

It is the Piedmontese municipality of Saluzzo, in the province of Cuneo, the first in Italy to be covered entirely by an Open RAN network with a 5G perspective. The field operational project is promoted by TIM thanks to the collaboration with JMA Wireless , supplier of XRAN, RAN virtualization software completely compliant with the specifications of the Open RAN Alliance .

TIM increases Open RAN footprint again

Just over a month after launching its second Open RAN location, TIM has added a third to its footprint.

The Italian incumbent said it has rolled out Open RAN technology in the town of Saluzzo, in south-west Piedmont, using a equipment from a variety of providers, some of which were part of its previous Open RAN launches.

DoD is the Largest Private 5G Network Deployer

The U.S. military has emerged as the largest current buyer of hardware, software and services related to private 5G wireless networks. This point was hammered home at Connect (X) in Orlando this week, in a panel appropriately titled Architecting and Deploying the Largest Private 5G Wireless Deployment.

The Fundamental Glue for Industry 4.0 Realization

The move toward the fourth industrial revolution is one where factories have machines that are augmented with wireless connectivity for sensors, control, visual inspection, and more, which in turn are connected to a system that can visualize the entire production line and make decisions on its own.

JMA Wireless’ XRAN Reinvents In-Building Mobile Connectivity

Demand for mobile connectivity is growing for today’s in-building business operations and high-density venues, but traditional small cells and distributed antenna systems fall short in offering a streamlined solution. Integrated with JMA Wireless’ award-winning TEKO™ DAS platform, XRAN™ software delivers a complete, scalable, and elastic cell system that delivers edge connectivity economically.

Mobile device usage is skyrocketing on campuses

Today’s competitive world of higher education must meet an expanding list of student criteria. It not only includes excellent professors, small classes, and a wide choice of curriculum, but robust wireless connectivity is critical for attracting and retaining the brightest young minds too.
