Higher Education

Universities and colleges, resembling self-sustained ecosystems, boast extensive campuses akin to small cities. Connectivity hurdles in higher education affect multiple facets like operations, security, research, remote learning, and more.

Wi-Fi has been essential, but due to high demand, campus IT teams are looking at private wireless solutions that can offload some critical use cases from the Wi-Fi network. Capacity and coverage through private networks can significantly improve student life on campus, university operations, and improve faculty experiences.

Why JMA for Higher Education

JMA offers a unique ability to deliver public and private wireless solutions on the same Radio Access Network (RAN) infrastructure. With a strong heritage in providing in-building wireless solutions for all sizes of venues, JMA excels at resolving wireless coverage and capacity challenges in a multi-operator environment and delivering the infrastructure to enable a smart campus transformation. JMA’s open RAN architecture offers the flexibility to simultaneously connect the service provider’s RF signal source to the JMA DAS in a dome or sporting venue while connecting their network to JMA XRAN and offering an additional private network across the campus throughout dorm rooms, classrooms and faculty buildings.

Smart Campuses

JMA's wireless technology can help build a secure, high-performing campus network to improve facility management, offer lower operational costs, augment security, and enhance student learning experiences. Our expertise in complex environments can help universities modernize the campus experience by integrating technology into housing, stadiums, recreational centers, and transportation.

icon

Provide a speedy User Experience

Higher throughput with over 1Gbps, leveraging five-channel carrier aggregation, with 4x4 MIMO. And that’s on CBRS.

icon

Lower CAPEX and OPEX

5000+ concurrent UE connections per cell, less HW and more users- now that’s and impressive number.

icon

Less number of Radios/Venue

Flexibility to use any fragmented channel in the entire 150 MHz CBRS spectrum with the same radio, reducing access point deployment.

icon

Lower Deployment & Management Cost

Shared spectrum support for 4G/5G on day one with multi-operator RAN-sharing and spectrum slicing. Define the use cases you need and slice away.

icon

Enhanced Application Reliability

Simulcast feature eliminates interference, delivering robust application performance for fault tolerant applications.

icon

Upgrade without a rip and replace

Same System, SW upgrade to 3GPP 5G future releases and add capacity with the touch of a button.

icon

Faster access to innovative applications

Faster upgrade cycle with little additional cost and accessibility to new features.

icon

Greater ROI Protection

Leverage the same infrastructure (antennas, connectors, power, fiber), saving ~50% plus 10+ years of product support.

icon

One Wireless Network, Multiple Uses

Lower TCO with multi-operators and multiple private services in a single wireless infrastructure.

Whitepaper: Navigating 5G technology

Over the last few years enterprises have been radically transforming to become more dependent on mobile connectivity and leveraging technology for smarter buildings. 5G will be the enabler, supporting not only the insatiable cellular demands of today’s employees, but also Massive IoT. With 5G, up to 1 million connected devices per .38 square miles can be supported versus approximately 2,000 connected devices per .38 square miles with 4G . In this paper we will not only explore 5G goals and challenges, but also what enterprise CIOs must do now to ensure their companies are ready to ride the 5G wave.
