A groundbreaking 5G network has revolutionized the fan experience at the JMA Wireless Dome, known as the "Loud House," on the Syracuse University campus. This 45,000-seat stadium, a central hub for diverse events, faced challenges with its existing 4G network, leading to congestion and insufficient coverage for the growing demand in fan engagement and device usage. In response, Syracuse University collaborated with JMA Wireless to implement an advanced connectivity solution.

The JMA Wireless DAS platform, a multi-band, multi-operator architecture, was deployed to address connectivity challenges. The upgrade included 102 new 4G/5G-capable software-defined radio units and 372 custom-designed antennas, significantly increasing cellular capacity from 21 to 54 cell sectors. The introduction of a patented narrow-beam antenna solution mitigated interference, resulting in a high-performing, high-capacity cellular network that outperforms many professional sports stadiums.

JMA DAS technology is the only software driven 5G-ready platform that can support future upgrades without requiring hardware changes. This forward-thinking approach ensures the JMA Dome will be ready for future upgrades, delivering 5G capabilities to a stadium that hosts almost a million guests annually.

As a result of these enhancements, attendees can now enjoy a fully immersive fan experience, including real-time video downloads, social media updates, and seamless connectivity for all 45,000 simultaneous users. The elimination of connectivity-related delays, such as waiting in line for gate admissions or buffering videos, positions the JMA Dome as a leader in connectivity among collegiate venues, even surpassing some professional sports stadiums.
